Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, New Zealand, Republic of Korea, the UK and the USA gave a statement following the publication of the first report of the Multilateral Sanctions Monitoring Team (MSMT): We, the participating states of the Multilateral Sanctions Monitoring Team (MSMT), released today its first report. This multilateral mechanism was established in October 2024 to monitor and report on the implementation of United Nations sanctions measures on the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK). The report is available on the official MSMT website . The report, which focuses primarily on unlawful DPRK-Russia military cooperation including arms transfers and Russia’s training of DPRK troops, consolidates information provided by MSMT participating states on violations and evasions of sanction measures stipulated in relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions (UNSCRs). The report also contains information provided by open source intelligence organizations. This report is a product of our efforts to address the monitoring gap arising from the disbandment of the UN Security Council’s 1718 Committee Panel of Experts in April 2024 which was caused by Russia’s veto in March 2024. The report will assist with the full implementation of UN sanctions by the international community. The opportunity for dialogue to reestablish the Panel of Experts as a central element of the UN sanctions framework remains open, provided the Panel is restored to the full form it had prior to disbandment. With the release of the first MSMT report, we underscore once again our shared determination to fully implement relevant UNSCRs. We urge the DPRK to engage in meaningful diplomacy, and call on all states to join global efforts to maintain international peace and security in the face of ongoing threats from the DPRK and those that facilitate its illicit activities in contravention of relevant UNSCRs. We will continue our efforts to monitor the implementation of UNSCRs on the DPRK and raise awareness of ongoing attempts to violate and evade UN sanctions. Evento realizado en la ciudad imperial del Cusco tuvo como ponentes a funcionarios del FBI, del Servicio de Investigación de Seguridad Nacional (HSI) de los Estados Unidos y de la Cancillería. Nota Informativa 116 - 25 En el marco de la tercera edición del Foro Cusco y del "Acuerdo entre el Gobierno de los Estados Unidos de América y el Perú sobre la imposición de restricciones a la importación de categorías de materiales arqueológicos y etnológicos del Perú", se llevó a cabo, el 29 de mayo, en el Instituto Cultural Peruano Norteamericano (ICPNA) de la ciudad del Cusco, el taller de capacitación "Lucha contra el tráfico ilícito y protección del patrimonio cultural. El taller estuvo dirigido a funcionarios peruanos y tuvo como objetivo fortalecer, actualizar y complementar sus capacidades y destrezas en materia de lucha contra el tráfico ilícito de bienes culturales. Los participantes tuvieron la oportunidad de interactuar con ponentes del FBI y del Servicio de Investigación de Seguridad Nacional (HSI) de los Estados Unidos, quienes compartieron sus experiencias y conocimientos en la investigación y persecución de delitos relacionados con el patrimonio cultural. Durante el evento, la Cancillería expuso su rol en la protección y repatriación de bienes culturales, y sobre la labor de nuestras misiones en el exterior para la recuperación y en la tarea de crear conciencia ciudadana respecto al daño que ocasiona la sustracción de bienes culturales. De esta manera, Perú y Estados Unidos reafirman el excelente nivel de amistad y colaboración en que se encuentran, a propósito de las celebraciones por los 200 años de relaciones diplomáticas entre ambos países.

On 28 May 2025, the Embassy of Latvia in Finland hosted a discussion titled “Women in Armed Forces – Experiences and the Way Forward” . The event was organised by the Embassy of Latvia in cooperation with the Ministry of Defence and the Latvian National Armed Forces (NBS). The discussion aimed to enhance Latvia’s visibility and share the country’s expertise on women’s participation in international politics and security. Latvia ranks among the leaders in the EU regarding women’s representation in senior positions across politics, science, and public administration, while the Latvian Armed Forces maintain one of the highest rates of female personnel in NATO. Latvia is also actively engaged in the UN Women, Peace, and Security agenda, which promotes gender equality and combats sexual violence in armed conflicts, supporting women’s active role in peace and resilience processes. The discussion featured experts from Latvia and Finland: Colonel Antoņina Bļodone, Commander of the Staff Battalion of the Latvian National Armed Forces; Major Anne Lamminen , Head Instructor for Leadership at the Department of Leadership and Military Pedagogy, Finnish National Defence University. The event was moderated by Sigita Struberga , Chairperson of the NGO “Women for Security,” Secretary General of the Latvian Transatlantic Organisation, and researcher and lecturer at the University of Latvia. The conversation covered a broad range of topics including personal career stories and motivations for joining the military, as well as wider issues such as w omen’s representation in various military roles, participation of women in modern military operations, women’s role and lessons learned from international military missions. Compulsory versus voluntary military service for women was compared and a discussion was held on the importance of mentorship for career development and on the necessary institutional reform. Participants highlighted the fact that women constitute 18% of the Latvian armed forces personnel, one of the highest shares within NATO. In Finland, women make up 4.7% of its Defence Forces, a figure that has shown positive growth in recent years. The discussion gathered Finnish journalists, experts, researchers, diplomats, representatives of the Finnish National Defence University, and military attachés. The event was held within the framework of the public diplomacy programme supporting Latvia’s candidacy campaign for membership of the UN Security Council. Latvia is standing as a first-time candidate for an elected member’s seat and its campaign runs under the motto of “Together for peace and resilience”. Membership of the UNSC will be a key instrument in pursuit and protection of Latvia’s foreign policy interests and enable Latvia to expand its international cooperation, thereby contributing to world peace and resilience.

MALAYSIA TEGAS TANGANI SINDIKET PENIPUAN PEKERJAAN: FOKUS UTAMA PENGERUSI ASEAN 2025   Kementerian Luar Negeri memandang serius isu sindiket penipuan tawaran pekerjaan dan ingin merakamkan setinggi-tinggi penghargaan kepada Pertubuhan Kemanusiaan Masyarakat Antarabangsa Malaysia (MHO), bersama-sama pertubuhan bukan kerajaan (NGO) lain serta pihak media, atas usaha berterusan mereka dalam menarik perhatian terhadap nasib rakyat Malaysia yang menjadi mangsa sindiket penipuan pekerjaan di seluruh rantau ini. Seiring dengan peranan Malaysia sebagai Pengerusi ASEAN pada tahun 2025, isu ini telah diberi keutamaan dalam agenda serantau. Malaysia telah mengambil langkah konkrit untuk membangkitkan perkara ini bersama Negara-Negara Anggota ASEAN, termasuk: 1. Semasa Mesyuarat Pemukiman Menteri-Menteri Luar ASEAN pada Januari 2025 di Langkawi, para Menteri Luar telah mengulangi komitmen bersama untuk membanteras jenayah rentas negara, termasuk penyeludupan manusia, pemerdagangan orang, pengedaran dadah, jenayah siber, pengubahan wang haram dan ancaman penipuan dalam talian yang semakin meningkat. 2. JERA, Japan’s largest energy trading company and a joint venture of the country’s two leading power utilities, has expressed interest in investing in Montenegro. The company operates one of the world’s most environmentally advanced power plants—Futtsu Thermal Power Station—with a capacity of 5.16 GW spread across 21 units. This is equivalent to five times Montenegro’s total annual electricity consumption and twenty times the output of the Pljevlja Thermal Power Plant. Prime Minister Milojko Spajić is currently paying an official visit to Japan, where he is meeting with representatives of several prominent Japanese corporations to present Montenegro’s investment potential across various sectors. Among others, Prime Minister Spajić met with Yukio Kani , CEO of JERA, and members of his team to discuss the prospects of Montenegro’s energy sector. Energy is our development opportunity. That is why it is particularly important to implement all potential prijects with credible partners who will help us ensure the sustainability, accessibility ans stability of the energy system, the Prime Minister emphasized. Kani informed the Prime Minister about the company's acquisions around the world, highlighting the importance of energy interconnection with countries in the region in the context of maintaining stability and balance of power. The JERA delegation conveyed the company’s readiness to explore opportunities in Montenegro and proposed the formation of a joint working group to assess potential areas of cooperation. The two sides agreed that legal compliance and transparency are essential pillars of any future engagement, particularly given Montenegro’s strategic goal of joining the European Union in the near future. The meeting highlighted Montenegro’s potential to become a regional leader in green energy production. As part of the visit, Prime Minister Spajić and his associates toured one of the world’s largest liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminals, located in Tokyo Bay and operated by JERA. The Futtsu facility, established four decades ago, adheres to high environmental and safety standards and plays a critical role in ensuring the reliability of Japan’s energy supply. It was agreed that further technical discussions will be held with Montenegro’s Ministry of Energy and Mining to explore concrete models for potential investment and collaboration in the country’s energy infrastructure.

WORKING VISIT OF YAB PRIME MINISTER DATO’ SERI ANWAR IBRAHIM TO THE REPUBLIC OF SINGAPORE 31 MAY 2025    Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim will undertake a working visit to the Republic of Singapore on 31 May 2025 to participate in the 22nd International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) Shangri-La Dialogue 2025. This Dialogue is an international annual event, serving as a platform for leaders and officials to discuss regional and global security challenges. As the Chair of ASEAN this year, the invitation is a recognition of Malaysia’s leadership role in the maintenance of peace and security in the region. During the visit, the Prime Minister will also hold a meeting with his counterpart Prime Minister Lawrence Wong. Both leaders are expected to take stock of bilateral relations, and exchange views on regional developments and global issues of mutual concern. The Prime Minister is also scheduled to pay a courtesy call on the President of Singapore, His Excellency Tharman Shanmugaratnam. In 2024, Singapore was Malaysia’s second-largest trading partner globally and the largest among ASEAN Member States. Bilateral trade increased by 8.9 percent to RM396.22 billion (USD86.69 billion), representing 13.8 percent of Malaysia’s total trade with exports from Malaysia to Singapore valued at RM230.86 billion (USD50.53 billion), while imports from Singapore to Malaysia valued at RM143.73 billion (USD31.45 billion). As close neighbours and key ASEAN partners, Malaysia and Singapore enjoy robust and multi-faceted cooperation. LAWATAN KERJA YAB PERDANA MENTERI DATO’ SERI ANWAR IBRAHIM KE REPUBLIK SINGAPURA 31 MEI 2025   Perdana Menteri, YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim akan mengadakan lawatan kerja ke Republik Singapura pada 31 Mei 2025 bagi menghadiri Dialog Shangri-La ke-22 anjuran Institut Kajian Strategik Antarabangsa (IISS). Dialog tahunan antarabangsa ini merupakan platform bagi pemimpin dan pegawai untuk membincangkan cabaran keselamatan serantau dan global. Sebagai Pengerusi ASEAN tahun ini, jemputan tersebut mencerminkan pengiktirafan terhadap peranan kepimpinan Malaysia dalam memelihara keamanan dan keselamatan di rantau ini. Vicecanciller y embajadora de Türkiye en el Perú inauguraron exposición fotográfica y documental sobre los hitos históricos de la relación bilateral. Nota de Prensa 116-25 El Perú y Türkiye reforzaron sus vínculos de amistad y cooperación con la presentación del diseño de un sello postal conjunto que conmemora el 75° aniversario del establecimiento de las relaciones diplomáticas. La ceremonia, que tuvo lugar hoy en Cancillería, estuvo presidida por el vicecanciller Félix Denegri Boza y la embajadora de Türkiye en el Perú, Serra Kaleli, y contó con la participación del presidente del directorio de SERPOST, Gustavo González De Otoya. “El sello refleja dos sitios representativos de ambas naciones, reconocidos por la UNESCO como patrimonio de la humanidad”, destacó el vicecanciller Denegri. Por el lado peruano, se presentó a la Ciudad Sagrada de Caral y, por el lado de Türkiye, una imagen del Parque Nacional de Göreme y sitios rupestres de Capadocia. El vicecanciller recordó que el inicio de las relaciones diplomáticas se remonta al 29 de mayo de 1950, con la designación de Bedri Tahir Saman como enviado extraordinario y ministro plenipotenciario de Türkiye en el Perú. Asimismo, resaltó también el fortalecimiento de la relación bilateral, siendo trascendente en este vínculo la apertura de embajadas residentes en 2010, tanto en Ankara como en Lima. “La relación bilateral se vio aún más fortalecida con la visita oficial realizada por el presidente de Türkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdogan al Perú, en febrero de 2016. Esta visita dio un gran impulso al diálogo político y al crecimiento de las relaciones económicas entre los dos países”, apuntó el viceministro de Relaciones Exteriores. Finalmente, en la jornada también se inauguró la exposición fotográfica y documental denominada “75 Años de Relaciones Diplomáticas Perú-Türkiye: culturas ancestrales, futuro compartido”. La muestra evidencia, a través de fotografías y documentos, los contactos entre ambos países desde el siglo XIX, así como eventos que reflejan el fluido diálogo político y cooperación en diversas áreas, como la cultura y la educación.

M. Christophe ROBINO, Conseiller de Gouvernement-Ministre des Affaires Sociales et de la Santé, accompagné de S.E. Mme Carole LANTERI, Ambassadeur, Représentant permanent de la Principauté de Monaco auprès de l’Office des Nations Unies à Genève, a conduit la délégation monégasque* à la 78 e Assemblée mondiale de la Santé (AMS), tenue à Genève, du 19 au 27 mai 2025. Cette année, le débat général avait pour thème « Un monde uni pour la santé ». Dans un contexte où d’importantes tensions géopolitiques divisent le monde et où des défis systémiques menacent la santé mondiale, M. ROBINO a salué l’adoption du projet de traité sur les pandémies, dont les négociations ont pu être achevées malgré ce contexte international tendu. Il a, en outre, réaffirmé l’attachement de la Principauté au multilatéralisme et à la pleine réalisation des Objectifs de développement durable (ODD). L’OMS subit non seulement les tensions géopolitiques actuelles, mais doit également faire face à une crise financière inédite dans son histoire. De ce fait, les discussions sur l’adoption du budget programme 2026-2027 ont été suivies avec une attention particulière, et les Etats se sont accordés sur un budget fortement réduit, ce qui implique une restructuration de l’Organisation. Enfin, plusieurs rencontres bilatérales ont été organisées en marge de l’AMS, notamment avec les Ministres de la Santé d’Italie, de Madagascar et du Liban, afin d’échanger sur des sujets d’intérêt commun. Plus largement, ce fut l’occasion pour M. O Ministro da Família, Inclusão e Desenvolvimento Social, Fernando Elísio Freire, inaugurou na tarde de quarta-feira, 28 de maio, a nova sede da Associação Desportiva do Bairro Craveiro Lopes, sita no antigo Posto de Saúde do Bairro. A inauguração desta infraestrutura representa um marco importante para a dinamização social e comunitária do Bairro Craveiro Lopes, criando um espaço dedicado à promoção do desporto, inclusão social e do desenvolvimento humano, especialmente entre os jovens. A nova sede da associação permitirá reforçar o trabalho de base desenvolvido ao longo dos anos, disponibilizando condições mais adequadas para a prática de atividades culturais e formativas, e contribuindo para o fortalecimento do espírito comunitário e da coesão social. Trata-se de um investimento que vai além do espaço físico, traduzindo-se num compromisso renovado com a juventude, a cidadania ativa e a construção de um futuro mais inclusivo. Press releases, 30.05.2025 At its meeting on 28 May 2025, the Federal Council once again discussed the war in the Gaza Strip between Israel and the terrorist organisation Hamas and made a full assessment of the situation. It is deeply dismayed at the unbearable human suffering and calls for unrestricted humanitarian access and an immediate ceasefire. A week ago, the Federal Council allocated CHF 10 million to humanitarian actors in the occupied Palestinian territory. At the same time, Switzerland continues to work internationally for a political solution to the conflict. The Head of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA), Federal Councillor Ignazio Cassis, briefed the Federal Council in detail on the latest military, humanitarian and diplomatic developments. Since the resumption of hostilities on 18 March 2025, over 3,500 people have been killed and more than 600,000 displaced again. The supply situation is untenable. Although humanitarian access has been partially restored since 19 May, it remains inadequate. On 21 May, the Federal Council decided to grant a total of CHF 10 million to five humanitarian organisations to support Palestinians affected by the conflict in the occupied Palestinian territory. A further CHF 10 million was provided to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) for its programmes in Jordan, Lebanon and Syria. Negotiations on a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas are progressing slowly. Without the complete and unconditional release of all hostages by Hamas, a lasting ceasefire is unlikely to materialise. Neither the UN or other multilateral organisations nor individual states. However, diplomatic efforts – including by Switzerland – continue unabated. The Federal Council makes the following three demands of both parties to the conflict: Humanitarian access the top priority Humanitarian aid must be provided immediately, unhindered and in sufficient quantities, in accordance with international humanitarian law. When it comes to humanitarian aid, there is no room for discretion: this is an obligation under international law and applies to both parties to the conflict. As an occupying power, Israel has a special responsibility under the Geneva Conventions to protect civilians.Immediate ceasefire and release of hostages An immediate ceasefire is essential. The Federal Council also calls for the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages held by Hamas. Violence does not solve conflicts – it prolongs suffering and prevents any prospect of peace.Stepping up of diplomatic efforts Switzerland urges all parties involved to work seriously and constructively towards a successful solution through diplomatic means. Switzerland is itself actively engaged at an international level in finding a political solution to the conflict. It is assuming its responsibility to this end, among other things by contributing to the work of the Global Alliance for the Implementation of the Two-State Solution and participating in the preparations for the upcoming UN conference on the Middle East to be held in New York in June, which Mr Cassis is expected to attend. Launched in 2024 and coordinated by Saudi Arabia, the EU and Norway, the Global Alliance brings together over 50 countries and international organisations. Switzerland also took part in its previous meeting in Rabat in May. The aim of these endeavours is to open up political prospects. In the absence of realistic alternatives, the two-state solution remains the only viable path to a just and lasting peace in accordance with international law. Nota Informativa 502-25 Entre el 29 y 30 de mayo, Perú participa en la reanudación del segundo período de sesiones de la Asamblea de las Naciones Unidas para el Hábitat, órgano de gobernanza del programa ONU-Hábitat que, en sus sesiones de este año, adoptará decisiones clave sobre la urbanización sostenible y los asentamientos humanos. En la primera jornada, la representante permanente del Perú, embajadora Romy Tincopa, intervino en el Diálogo de Alto Nivel sobre Vivienda Adecuada. Durante su participación, destacó el compromiso de nuestro país con la equidad en la vivienda, la planificación urbana resiliente al clima y el desarrollo inclusivo. Asimismo, enfatizó en la relevancia de la cooperación internacional y la necesidad de construir ciudades seguras, verdes y accesibles para todos, prestando especial atención a las poblaciones vulnerables. La asamblea de este año cobra importancia debido a que los Estados miembros aprobarán el nuevo Plan Estratégico de ONU-Hábitat para 2026-2029. Este plan guiará -señaló la directora ejecutiva del programa, Anacláudia Rossbach- el trabajo durante los próximos cuatro años, marcando el camino antes de la conclusión de la Agenda 2030 y sus Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible (ODS). En el primer día, la Dirección Ejecutiva de ONU-Hábitat también presentó los proyectos de cooperación que el programa desarrolló en diversas regiones relacionadas a la reconstrucción de viviendas e infraestructuras resilientes al clima. Es relevante destacar que, cada cuatro años, la Asamblea para el Hábitat reúne a los 193 Estados miembros de las Naciones Unidas para abordar cuestiones apremiantes que impactan la vida cotidiana en las ciudades. Entre los temas se incluyen la vivienda asequible, los espacios públicos limpios, la resiliencia climática y el acceso a los servicios básicos.
